I was able to reach my entire forearm into this defect to evacuate a hematoma that had developed and spontaneously ruptured after the skin broke down.

This picture is of a patient with traumatic pneumopericardium after blunt chest trauma.
You can see the air collected in the pericardial sac.

There is so much air that it is actually displacing the heart back toward the back and is compressing the heart.  The patient actually had some low blood pressure as a result of this condition.  We (cardiology) got a catheter placed and it remained in place for over a week until we were sure it would not reaccumulate.

Pelvis Fractures

This is one of the most dramatic pelvis fractures I have seen.

This ear got bitten by the other guy in a fight. About 1 week into the healing process. OUCH!

Ruptured diaphram

This picture shows a hole in the R diaphram (the black gash on the L side of the picture. The hands are pulling the liver and bowl out of the way.)  The patient ruptured their diaphram after a fall. This is a pretty atypical injury from such a low impact trauma.

Christmas tree!

The girls are so excited for Christmas. I'm not sure they will sleep tonight  and we have almost a month!

Two dudes and a nail gun.

These are xrays of a persons neck. The nail doesn't belong there. The story on this was a little sketchy. Self inflicted or two dudes who came out of nowhere and randomly did this but nothing else. ??? We will never know.
